The geometric lines revealed on the surface are the Widmanstätten pattern — interlocking bands of two iron-nickel crystals, kamacite and taenite. It cannot be reproduced industrially; it only forms as an asteroid core cools at roughly 10–40 °C per million years in the vacuum of space.
